Want to vacation with your beloved four-legged friend at the Hotel am Mühlenteich in Schwelm? No problem—your furry friend is also welcome here with advance notice!
We are happy to provide two bowls for water and food in your room. Please note that your dog is not allowed in the restaurant or the wellness area.
We charge 25 euros per pet per night.

Of course, you’ll want to explore the area with your four-legged friend—and Schwelm and its surroundings are perfect for that, since the county seat is nestled in the heart of the countryside. So nothing stands in the way of long walks. Just around the corner, for example, you’ll find the Schwelm Forest and the castle park at Haus Martfeld.
We also recommend the following routes:

Schwelmer Wald & Winterberg: For a casual walk or a longer hike through the woods, we recommend the Winterberg, the highest point in Schwelm. There are generally many dog-friendly hiking trails through the woods and rolling countryside around Schwelm, and the Schwelmer Wald and Kleine Schwelmer Wald are located right near the Hotel am Mühlenteich. Here, large off-leash areas invite dogs to run and play.
Am Tannenbaum: The “Am Tannenbaum” network of natural habitats is a lovely spot for a peaceful nature walk. Important: This is a nature reserve, so please keep your dog on a leash and stay on the trails.
Heilenbecker Dam: Just a short drive away, the Heilenbecker Dam in Ennepetal beckons—a lovely option for a longer hike.
Beyenburg Reservoir: The Beyenburg Reservoir is also not far away. It’s a great option if you’d like to turn your walk into a little outing.
Scharpenacken: Scharpenacken in Wuppertal is a wonderful local recreation area where dogs can really let off some steam.
